Preparation is the adventure
Checklists, conditions, gear, training, briefings. By the time anything looks bold from the outside, most of the work is already done.
Adventure
Surfing, snowboarding, skydiving, flying, travel — pursuits that reward preparation and punish shortcuts. Logged here honestly, as they happen, for the curiosity and the learning rather than the story.
Approach
This is not a highlight reel. These pursuits are how the same habits get practised outside of work: prepare properly, respect the conditions, commit once, and keep improving in small increments. The ventures are built on the same rules.
Checklists, conditions, gear, training, briefings. By the time anything looks bold from the outside, most of the work is already done.
Air, water and mountains are indifferent. Reading them properly — and being willing to walk away — is the whole skill.
One skill at a time, under supervision where it matters. Growth compounds; ego does not.
Time, health and capability are the real currency. The work is built to buy more of them, and anyone is welcome to borrow the idea for their own version.
Pursuits

Aviation
Nothing teaches process like aviation. Weather, weight, fuel, alternates, decisions made before the engine starts — and the honesty to cancel a plan that no longer adds up.
What it teaches — Systems thinking, calm under load, and the value of a written checklist.

Freefall
Rehearsed, briefed and repeated until the movements are automatic. The jump itself is short; the discipline surrounding it is not.
What it teaches — Commitment after preparation — deciding once, then executing cleanly.

Ocean
Reading swell, tide and wind, then waiting for the right one. Most of surfing is patience and positioning, which is uncomfortably close to how good businesses are built.
What it teaches — Timing, patience, and reading conditions instead of forcing them.

Alpine
Terrain, snowpack and light change hour by hour. Progress comes from repetition on the same lines until the technique holds when the conditions turn.
What it teaches — Repetition, balance, and comfort with controlled discomfort.
River
Filmed at Huka Falls, Taupō: a bridge jump and a descent through one of the most powerful stretches of whitewater in New Zealand — scouted, timed and committed to fully.
What it teaches — Reading the line, then finishing it.
The log
Huka Falls, Taupō
Waikato, New Zealand
Scouted from the bridge, timed with the flow, filmed in a single descent. The full film sits on the About page.
More entries are added as they are genuinely completed and filmed — no projections, no plans presented as achievements.
Stories
Each adventure is written up properly afterwards — location, conditions, film and what was learned — and grouped into surf, air, water, road, travel and challenges.
Built from this
Products get designed because something failed in the field. The NATOR Bag, the cookware and the cabins all started as a problem encountered somewhere away from a desk.
Everything documented here is done with training, appropriate equipment and qualified people. It is a personal record, not instruction or encouragement — these pursuits carry real risk and belong in the hands of properly trained instructors.
